There Are No Overnight Sensations

With all the grandiose lives being lived on social media one might think that there is a much faster and easier path to success than the one that we are on. While those images can be appealing and sexy, they are only a snapshot in time. A moment that depicts an image the author wants to portray to the world around them and one that may not be reality based.

Without question, success and, most importantly, satisfaction for work well done comes to those who put in the time, grind day-in and day-out, and persevere when it seems like success is a distant fantasy. Overnight sensation comes to those who put in the work while others are playing.

It generally takes about 10 years of hard work to reach the level of success we envision for ourselves. It then takes another 10 years of refining, redesigning, and perfecting to reach the next level. A level few achieve. Overnight sensations sacrifice everything because of their commitment to their dream. They are willing to push themselves to the edge of breaking and then push even harder.

Overnight sensations know that long-term success is achieved by laboring day-in and day-out to build a core that can withstand the economic tremors and societal changes that shake all businesses from time to time. They fall. They get up. They fall again. They repeat this masochistic exercise until their experiences and struggles teach them what they need to know to build the foundation that will create an enduring business.
